Allison & Mack: Dreamtime For Foodies
Mack and Allison met at freshmen orientation in Houston, Texas and have been in love ever since. They are college sweethearts for whom traveling to different countries is a passion. When it came time to plan their honeymoon, all they could dream of were overwater bungalows, turquoise waters and lots of sun. Mack suggested Bora Bora on a whim and once they saw photos, they were hooked. Bora Bora it was!
Allison: Mack is a criminal defense attorney and I work in fundraising for one of the world’s most renowned cancer centers. Over the course of our relationship, we have explored countless cities across the globe, from Barcelona to Positano to San Juan. We love to lounge on the beach, sail and enjoy the best cuisine each city has to offer. After spending our honeymoon on the island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia we can both say we’ve experienced heaven on earth.
Let me be the millionth person to tell you – the photos do not do this island justice. As soon as we landed in Bora Bora, it felt like we had stepped into a fairytale. We took a boat from the airport to the St. Regis hotel and seeing the resort literally took our breath away. Butlers greeted us right from the dock, handed us drinks and promptly escorted us to our over-water bungalow. We didn’t have to worry about a thing and immediately jumped into the crystal blue water…right from our own deck!
Our room amazing and Jennifer was spot on in recommending a room with a view of Mount Otemanu. We watched the sunset behind the mountain on our deck with a glass of champagne every evening we could. The best thing about our room was that we had an unobstructed view of Bora Bora – it literally felt like we had the island to ourselves! Since we had a late flight out on our last day, Jennifer arranged for us to spend the day in another room of the resort which had a beach view – while it was still beautiful, nothing compares to waking up to Mount Otemanu in all her glory!
Mack and I are foodies at heart! One of our main reasons for picking the St. Regis was because there are four amazing restaurants right on the resort! Jennifer arranged for complimentary dinners for us at the resort every night! From the Far Niente, the Italian restaurant just minutes from our bungalow to Sushi Take serving the freshest fish to the Te Pahu restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast on the beach every day, it was a foodie’s dream come true! Our best experience had to be dinner at Lagoon by Jean Georges. We enjoyed a seven course tasting menu at one of the most coveted tables in the restaurant, right at sunset – we will never forget it!
One of my surprises and best memories from this trip! Mack arranged for dinner on a private island for our last night in Bora Bora. Our captain took us on a sunset cruise around the island, serenading us with songs and telling us stories about the island. We arrived at our private motu for a fresh, seafood dinner – just the two of us on the island! The night ended with a private fire dancing show, courtesy of our captain himself!
Our honeymoon was a very special trip in particular, as we didn’t have to do any of the planning! Jennifer and her team at Pacific for Less did an extraordinary job planning and executing our trip of a lifetime. From arranging for complimentary breakfasts and dinners at our resort – yes, we only paid for lunch and drinks! – to providing us with a free couples massage, to booking us on an amazing Shark and Sting Ray tour - there was no detail or “must-do” left off of our itinerary. Mack and I wanted to get the most out of the island as well as find time to relax. After explaining this all to Jennifer, she came up with the perfect mix of planned activities (one planned activity/day over the course of our 10 day trip) which left plenty of time for relaxing and lounging both on the beach, at the pool and in our bungalow.
Throughout our entire trip, we toasted to our trip of a lifetime. Now, we can’t stop planning our return to Bora Bora! Our perfect trip was made even more perfect with the help of Jennifer and Pacific for Less – we can’t thank you enough!
